This quest for a term of endearment calls on music and silence, words and space, the mask and the body. aïlòviou has been created out of a tremendous desire to redistribute the cards dealt to theatre, dance and music. Bringing together man of theatre Didier Galas, accordionist Pascal Contet and choreographer Christian Rizzo, this is a project involving many voices. The music is composed by Pascal Contet and Joël Grare to a libretto by Didier Galas, directed by Christian Rizzo. An actor, director and educationalist who divides his time between France and Japan, Didier Galas is associate artist at the TNB where he premiered Trickster in 2010 before taking it on tour to France, Italy, Africa and Japan. He premiered parlaparole, based on Rabelais’ work, at Mettre en Scène in 2012. His next work, L’invention de la parole, will combine dancers and actors and will be premiered in Kyoto in September 2014. By commissioning works from composers of contemporary music (Mauricio Kagel, Luciano Berio...), Pascal Contet has taken the accordion to some of the biggest stages around. His eclecticism has led to collaborations with the choreographer Odile Duboc, the singer Camille and the actress Marie-Christine Barrault. Drawing his influences from rock, visual arts, dress design and choreography, Christian Rizzo presents performances, operatic productions and choreographies, alternating this work with other visual art projects and commissions. He recently presented D’après une histoire vraie at the Festival d’Avignon where it made quite an impression.
